Foster youth entrepreneurial skills using circular economy to find solutions to community’ food waste issues
Context
Achieving food waste prevention requires a holistic approach that looks at the food system as a complex and interrelated set of agricultural, economic, social and cultural practices.
The partners decided to present this project to offer a new possibility of (1) activate youth’s ability to find innovative solutions to (2) tackle a global grave issue that is food waste, at the same time.
Aim of the project
FOOD project will increase entrepreneurial competences in youth and motivate them in finding innovative solutions to the food waste issues in their community. The activities proposed in the FOODy program will offer a new way to build up participant’s active participation, increase their confidence, while enhancing employability skills using real issues connected to their community food waste problems. The partners will base the activities counting on youth’s predisposition for innovation and their grasp of emerging trends, so they can start new initiatives aimed at lowering or preventing food waste in their communities.
Impact
The inspiration for the present project is given by the inadequate opportunities offered to young people in developing the practical skills they need to be active and responsible citizens. By participating to the FOODy program, NEETs are expected to reinforce social and transversal competences as communication, entrepreneurial mind-set, critical thinking and creativity in both young participants and other involved in the activities promoted by the project.
